Anne Mette Thorhauge

Anne Mette Thorhauge is Associate Professor at Department of media, cognition and communication at University of Copenhagen. Her research interests include media in everyday life in the broadest sense including video games as a tool for interaction and a source of conflict in modern families, and smartphones as a tool for balancing the commitment and obligations of everyday life. Throughout the previous decade she has been a member of the Danish media council for children and young people, during the most recent years as the chairperson. The media council functions as an information centre and an advisor to policymakers, teachers, parents, children and youth regarding new media and the way it changes the conditions of childhood, including media literacy as a key focus. Anne Mette has early held workshops focusing on game development in school contexts as an approach to media literacy and she has done volunteer work in Zanzibar focusing on filmmaking on smartphones among local youth (pajefilmschool.wordpress.com) with a similar aim of enhancing media literacy through creative production. Currently she conducts research in Meaning across media project.
